Abortion Access Petition Drive Successful

Abortion Access Petition Drive Successful

By Ashley Cacicedo-Surdovel, Young Leaguers Chair Thank you to everyone who collected and signed petitions for Floridians Protecting Freedom’s Constitutional Amendment. As of this month, the Florida Division of Elections updated its official count and I am excited to announce that we have reached the petition threshold. Our volunteers across the state — from FPF, the League and many other groups and individuals — have worked diligently to collect valid signatures from registered Florida voters, and we couldn’t have reached this milestone for democracy without you. The Florida Supreme Court will conduct a Public Hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 9 a.m. to discuss the abortion access ballot initiative and language. Please click on the image (above right) to register for the Public Hearing watch party. Floridians Protecting Freedom, the group managing the petition, still needs funding to help meet the goal of getting abortion access Constitutional Amendment on the November 2024 ballot in Florida. Please donate as much as you

Getting Abortion Access on the 2024 Ballot

Getting Abortion Access on the 2024 Ballot

Sign the Petition by December 15th! Click here: Put Abortion on the Ballot! – Floridians Protecting Freedom The overwhelming majority of Floridians think we should all have the freedom to make our own personal healthcare decisions without interference from politicians.  Despite that, politicians have again denied Floridians the right to control their own bodies and lives, approving a six-week abortion ban. It bans abortion before many people even realize they are pregnant and leaves little time to get care under Florida’s two-trip requirement. Help put these decisions back in the hands of Florida families and their doctors, not politicians. Watch Young Leaguer Jihan Bazile explaining the Petition on YouTube.

Thanksgiving Baskets Went to PBC Foster Families

THANKSGIVING BASKETS WENT TO PBC FOSTER FAMILIES   By Ashley Cacicedo-Surdovel, Young Leaguers chair What started as a simple act on social media grew into something so much bigger. Young Leaguers Chair Ashley Cacicedo-Surdovel shared a flyer asking to donate Thanksgiving baskets to foster families in our community with her friends and committee members. Numerous League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County committees then expressed interest in the project and League President Kathi Gundlach collected several baskets at the Hot Topic Luncheon.   On Nov. 21, Ashley gathered a total of 14 baskets and delivered them to Friends of Foster Children of Palm Beach County. The staff was so excited to see that her car was full of food for the families. Our League appreciates everyone who made the holiday special for those in need.
