The first initiative, the Right to Clean and Healthy Waters Amendment, seeks to empower Floridians to better hold their government accountable when it comes to Florida waters. This amendment is crucial for protecting our environment and public health. Click here to learn more about this amendment. The second initiative, the Amendment to Provide Medicaid Coverage to Eligible Low-Income Adults, aims to expand Medicaid coverage to low-income adults who currently fall into the coverage gap. Voter Services Needs Team Leaders

Voter Services Needs Team Leaders

VOTER SERVICES NEEDS TEAM LEADERS By Phyllis Applebaum‚ Voter Services Chair  We are in an important election year‚ and the League of Women Voters wants as many people to vote as possible.  However, we know many aren’t ready to vote. Many who traditionally vote by mail don’t realize their privileges now expire at the end of every even year. Many have yet to reapply. Also, the state has purged 1 million voters from the Florida voter rolls in 2023 — and some were removed in error. In other cases, people moved and have yet to update their voter registrations. We want to help people to check their voter information to be sure it is correct and up-to-date. That is why we send teams of people out to senior facilities, fairs and schools. That is also why we need Team Leaders since we can’t go out without them! What is a Team

A sea of smiles and civic engagement at Juno Beach’s finest coastal celebration

A sea of smiles and civic engagement at Juno Beach’s finest coastal celebration

By Pamela Maldonado, Voter Services The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach played host to an unforgettable day at this year’s TurtleFest, its annual extravaganza.  Many thousands of visitors soaked up the sunshine at the event, which celebrated Loggerhead’s work in caring for injured sea turtles and promoting public awareness about steps necessary to care for their habitat and promote a successful nesting season. It also proved to be a melting pot of community spirit and civic engagement, bringing conservation-minded non-profits and local vendors together, along with food trucks, games for kids and amazing live music all day. Our LWVPBC table caught the attention of both kids and parents. With our patriotic dress-up station, little ones gleefully donned red, white, and blue outfits, transforming into pint-sized patriots for pictures. In between photo ops, volunteers took the opportunity to engage their parents on a different level. Newly armed with information about upcoming elections and
