Every eligible voter deserves to have their vote counted — that’s the cornerstone of our democracy. Our nation suffers when eligible, registered voters are turned away from the polls, unable to find their polling place, or otherwise blocked from exercising their voting rights.
The League of Women Voters in Palm Beach County have joined the national non-partisan Election Protection Coalition made up of more than 100 local, state and national partners under the leadership of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law and Common Cause. ELECTION PROTECTION works to ensure that every eligible voter gets to vote. To do this, they mobilize thousands of volunteers across the country who act as voters’ first line of defense against confusing voting rules, outdated infrastructure, rampant misinformation, and needless obstacles to the ballot box.
We need your help. We are asking you to serve your community and our democracy by signing up as an Election Protection volunteer.
Volunteers are trained and provided with extensive materials. They commit to doing at least one shift (3-4 hours) at the polls on Election Day. The volunteer will stand outside an assigned polling location and speak with voters, distribute “Know Your Rights” cards, answer basic questions from voters, and, with the assistance of trained legal professionals on the call-in hotline, help voters resolve any problems that occur.
Don’t just sit at home on Election Day and worry about what is going on at the polls. Get out there and help ensure that voters can exercise their vote!
Sign up as an Election Protection volunteer today and help protect the vote!!
