Getting Abortion Access on the 2024 Ballot

Getting Abortion Access on the 2024 Ballot

Sign the Petition by December 15th! Click here: Put Abortion on the Ballot! – Floridians Protecting Freedom The overwhelming majority of Floridians think we should all have the freedom to make our own personal healthcare decisions without interference from politicians.  Despite that, politicians have again denied Floridians the right to control their own bodies and lives, approving a six-week abortion ban. It bans abortion before many people even realize they are pregnant and leaves little time to get care under Florida’s two-trip requirement. Help put these decisions back in the hands of Florida families and their doctors, not politicians. Watch Young Leaguer Jihan Bazile explaining the Petition on YouTube.

How Can Seniors Save Money?

by Nancy Gau, Healthcare Chair Costs can add up quickly, so it’s beneficial to find ways to save money when possible. Seniors can save money through various cost-saving measures, such as budgeting and taking advantage of discounts that some businesses offer to those starting at the ages of 55, 60, 62 or 65. Here are some great ways for seniors to stretch their retirement savings and consider new options that can help save them money. 1. Shop for new healthcare coverage  Review your insurance policies and shop around for a better rate. Medicare healthcare coverage that doesn’t match your needs can end up costing you more in the long run. Floridians Protecting Freedom Petition

Floridians Protecting Freedom Petition

A majority of Floridians support the freedom to make our own personal healthcare decisions without interference from politicians. Despite widespread support for reproductive freedom, Florida’s legislative leaders voted to further restrict abortion care. In April, they passed, and Gov. DeSantis signed, a new law that if it goes into effect, would ban abortion beyond six weeks of pregnancy — before many people even realize they are pregnant.¹ That’s why we’re asking you to support the Floridians Protecting Freedom ballot initiative campaign to amend the Florida Constitution to limit government interference in our reproductive health decisions and protect abortion access. Sign the official Floridians Protecting Freedom petition at this link. All registered Florida voters are eligible to sign. We’re already seeing tragic consequences from the 15-week abortion ban Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law last year, with pregnant Floridians being forced to travel out of state for care or continue a pregnancy against

Let’s Get Abortion on the Ballot

Let’s Get Abortion on the Ballot

LET’S GET ABORTION ON THE BALLOT! League helps Floridians Protecting Freedom drive for Constitutional Amendment. By Phyllis Applebaum, Voter Services Chair, and Arlene Ustin Most of us were crushed when Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court recently.  Many of us remember a time when abortion was not legal.  Women died getting illegal ones. The difficulty with laws restricting abortion is that many women have problems carrying a fetus, and the problems show up well after most new laws say abortions can’t be performed. So women carry dying babies, which is harmful to their health, and they have to consult their lawyers rather than their doctors. Some women have to travel to states where abortion is available, which many can’t afford, or wait until they are close to death, when they might be allowed to get an abortion. A group of women recently sued, saying the new laws are a threat

Drug Pricing Changes on the Way

Drug Pricing Changes on the Way

By Lynn Rogut, Healthcare The high cost of prescription drugs continues to exact a toll on the pocketbooks of individuals and families. Drug companies enjoy healthy profits, yet affording medication remains a challenge for 1 out of 4 of us, and especially for people with chronic conditions and those with less income. Even if you have insurance, you may be able to save money on your prescriptions by shopping around. Apps and websites like GoodRx, SingleCare and WebMDRx can help you compare prices at different pharmacies, and they offer discount coupons that are free to use and are accepted by most U.S. pharmacies. Relief on drug prices is on the way thanks to federal action to protect Medicare along with pressure from advocacy organizations and policymakers, including President Biden. Reforms in the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 that aim to bring down costs for millions of Medicare beneficiaries will be phased in
