Sponsor-a-Student Fund
Donations are Tax Deductible

Donations to the Sponsor-a-Student Fund are tax-deductible under section 501c(3) of the tax code. (Taxpayer ID #46-2821816).

Donations are used primarily to cover the fees of high school and college students to attend League events. The students are invited as our guests to Hot Topic Luncheons, new member orientations, issue meetings, and more.

Sponsor-a-Student Funds may also be used to pay a student's basic membership rate.

We encourage young people to get more involved in the League and in other civic engagements. Your donations make it possible to offset whatever fees would otherwise be charged to students.

Qualified Charitable Distribution

IRA owners over age 70½ can designate that their required minimum distribution  be made to the Education Fund of the League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County as a Qualified Charitable Distribution. Doing so avoids the directly donated portion of their required minimum distribution from being taxable income, up to $105,000 per individual, or $210,000 for married couples filing jointly.

In addition to avoiding tax on the amount of the required minimum distribution, Qualified Charitable Distributions can help donors whose required minimum distribution would otherwise push them into a higher income tax bracket, and it may reduce other taxes that are based on your Adjusted Gross Income. Consult your tax professional about the benefits and requirements.

A Qualified Charitable Distribution can be made in two ways:
1- Electronically, directly to LWVPBC Education Fund.
Contact the League's Assistant Treasurer for specific information: treasurer@lwvpbc.org

2- By a direct check from your IRA Custodian made payable to:
       LWVPBC Education Fund
9314 Forest Hill Blvd. Ste 770
       Wellington, FL 33411-6577
