Say NO to REDISTRICTING
Special Session of Florida House of Representatives
April 20-24, 2026

What is the Special Session for Redistricting?

 - Florida lawmakers are proposing an unprecedented mid-decade redistricting, outside the normal once-per-decade census cycle.

 - This is widely viewed as an effort to redraw districts to advantage the party currently in power, the Republican party.

 - LWV is hosting two webinars to explore the legislature's plan and the concerns it raises for fair representation and democratic accountability.

Why the League Matters

It’s natural to wonder what role a local civic organization like the League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County can play, especially in times of heightened political tension. While our local League doesn't shape national politics, much of democratic stability depends on what happens locally, and LWVPBC supports the essential building blocks of democracy through accurate voter education, election protection, candidate forums, community outreach, and much more.

The League plays a vital role in protecting the process of democracy and helping ensure that elections are accessible, fair, and trusted. This work would not be possible without the commitment of each of our volunteers who give their time and skills in ways both large and small.

There is a role for every League member, and for those who are considering joining the League. Each person strengthens our collective impact. That shared commitment is exactly what keeps our civic institutions healthy and effective.
