| The League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County brought two prestigious awards home from the League of Women Voters of Florida State Convention June 5-7, where nearly 200 attendees from most of Florida’s local and collegiate leagues came together in Orlando to share best practices and statewide initiatives.
Our chapter, which sent 17 delegates, was recognized for Fostering Civic Dialogue for our “Why Vote” video series, and the President’s Award for our 2024 Election Expo plus two publications: our 2024 Voters' Guide and 2025-26 Directory of Elected Officials.
These honors were accepted by Joyce Sullivan, first vice president of LWVPBC and Ashley Cacicedo-Surdovel, a member of the state League’s Board of Directors, along with Reisha Roopchand Allen, second vice president. We are deeply touched by this recognition and proud to bring these awards home.
We celebrated the remarkable leadership of Cecile M. Scoon, Esq., of Panama City, and Debra Chandler, of Palm Beach County, who were honored for their dedicated service as co-presidents of LWVFL. Their legacy, leadership and mentorship have made a lasting impact on our League and we are forever grateful. We also were excited to welcome our new state president, Jessica Lowe-Minor, and are energized by her vision for the future.
Our neighboring League chapters also earned awards: the Martin County LWV won Fostering Civic Dialogue and a President’s Award, and the Broward County LWV won Excellence in Voter Education.
This convention was special and energizing, and even more meaningful because of the presence of three members from our FAU LWV Club. We return inspired, connected and ready to continue advancing nonpartisan voter education and civic engagement across our communities.

| NEW RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE | The following new information on the website will be helpful to all members.
1. The Member Resources menu is now split into four columns. In the Resources column you will see "Board Training." This page has links to the Zoom training for new board members and leadership that was provided by LWVFL. Many of these sessions are very insightful and are recommend even for members without the specific title. At the bottom of each video you can change the speed, faster or slower, as you wish.
2. In the About Us menu, there is a new document titled "League 101." This also comes from LWVFL, and is an excellent resource for all members. A password is not needed to view the document, so feel free to recommend it to non-league members too.
