The following article was published recently in ‘The AARP Bulletin.’

AARP Florida is warning people about election-related fraud targeting older voters, including requests for donations to fictitious political action committees and soliciting sensitive information during fake voter registration efforts.

In a voter registration scam, the perpetrator contacts an unsuspecting voter, telling them they’re not registered to vote and offering to register them if they’re willing to provide personal information, says Karen Murillo, AARP Florida’s associate state director of advocacy.

Another con includes a call from a purported pollster promising a gift card in return for opinions — but then asking for your credit card information under the guise of covering taxes and shipping. More at AARP.org/money/scams-fraud/info-2020/political.
