Most Americans can agree there are too many mass shootings in our country. It seems we are at war with ourselves over this issue. We elect people who will do nothing to change our current laws. They are beholden to the National Rifle Association to get themselves re-elected and are immovable because of it. We are being held hostage over this belief that Second Amendment rights will be taken away from those who wish to own these weapons.

Clearly we are no longer a civilized society. We lost that when Congress allowed the 1994 ban on assault weapons law to expire in 2004. Our elected officials are always more concerned with keeping the NRA and their lobbyists happy than protecting the people who elect them. All we can do everyday is kiss our loved ones goodbye and hope they return home. This is our reality, thanks to America’s obsession with guns.
