Michael Burke
Superintendent, School District of Palm Beach County
As the Superintendent of the High-Performing School District of Palm Beach County, Mr. Michael Burke is passionate about ensuring academic excellence and paving the way to post-graduate success for the District’s more than 170,000 students who attend 182 district-operated schools.
He is deeply committed to the School Board’s mission to educate, affirm, and inspire each student in an equity-embedded school system.
As Superintendent of the tenth-largest district in the nation, Mr. Burke also oversees Palm Beach County’s largest workforce. The District employs nearly 23,000 people.
Gordan Longhofer
President, Classroom Teachers Association of Palm Beach County
Gordan Longhofer is President of the Palm Beach County Classroom Teachers Association. He began teaching in 1983 in Oklahoma before coming to Florida by way of Kansas. He has been in Palm Beach County since August of 1988.
Most recently, he taught Math and Vocal Music for 18 years at Pahokee Middle High School.
His wife of 41 years, Karen, and their oldest son, Blake, and Blake's wife are also teachers in Palm Beach County.
Gordan has been an advocate for teachers as a union rep, board member, negotiations team member, and Vice President. He also serves on the Governance Board and the Goals and Budget Committee of the Florida Education Association, as well as on their Government Relations Committee.
