Our League has grown tremendously—in members, in issues and programs, in importance to Palm Beach County.  Our budget has grown complicated.  To make it easier to understand how we are doing financially, we have simplified our presentation:

Income derives from:

  • Your Membership dues
  • Our LWVPBC Education Fund manages funds from donations, gifts, and grants and distributes those funds to LWVPBC for educational projects our League undertakes. LWVPBC Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization.
  • Donations from members and the community—without these, we could not exist.
  • Event income (eg, Hot Topic lunches)
  • Reserves, other includes interest on reserve funds and retained monies

Expenses are many:

We have grouped expenses into sectors so members, the public, donors can better understand how we spend our funds:

Membership: we get to keep only $13 of your dues: most of your dues go to support LWV State and National programs.  We use the rest, plus some, to educate members.

Education: our primary mission is to educate voters and the public.  This sector includes our Hot and Cool Topics and other educational events, Civic Education, and Speakers Bureau expenses.

Issues and Advocacy: includes expenses for all of our Issue Groups and our Advocacy, Observer Corps, Outreach, and Young Leaguer committees.

Communications are a growing and vital part of LWVPBC.  This includes website and social media and our NEWSletter.

Administration: cost of doing business expenses.

Voting & Elections: Voter Services, Voter Publications (such as Voter Guide and Directory), Moderators.  This sector is small In a non-election year like 2019, larger in general election years.
