Go Solar- Solar Co-ops

We thought about solar. We have talked about solar. And now we have formed cooperatives to obtain solar energy. The League of Women Voters of Florida is already responsible for over 1,000 solar installations.

Here in Palm Beach County, our key person, Diane Marks, is in the process of forming another cooperative. The great thing about a co-op is that you don’t have to go-it-alone. Instead, the members of the co-op review vendor proposals and negotiate prices, warranties, etc. This way you have group pricing and leverage in making sure installations and warranties are consumer friendly and affordable.

Purchasing solar energy equipment is a three point winner.
  1. Good for the environment
  2. Good for the economy, and
  3. Good for the consumer.

The second Solar Co-op in Palm Beach County kicked off on September 27 th  at the Pine Jog Environmental Education Center.  Neighbors in Palm Beach County can join the co-op to save money and make it easier to go solar.

Information meetings are scheduled around the County. Interested people can learn about the Solar Co-op, the benefits of solar energy, financing an installation and ask questions.  The next meeting is November 17, 2018 at 10:30 am at West Boca Branch Library, 18685 SR 7, Boca Raton. The next 2 Information Meetings are on December 8, 2018, at 10:30am at Delray Beach City Library, 100 S Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach and at 2pm at West Palm Beach City (Mandel) Library, 411 Clematis St, WPB.

The League of Women Voters Palm Beach is partnered with the Sierra Club, Audubon, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Citizens’ Climate Lobby, UUFBR and the cities of West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach and Boca Raton.

Mayor Jeri Muoio of West Palm Beach is our Honorary Chair. West Palm Beach is the only Gold Star municipality in Palm Beach County and Mayor Muoio is a guiding force is bring reusable energy to her city. We are proud of her help and support of the Solar Co-op.

The co-op participants will select a single company to complete all of the installations.  This meeting will be held in November.  For more information or to join the co-op, go to
