gun safety concertThe 2019 Concert Across America, an annual nationwide event spanning 200+ cities, links communities across the country to remember those who lost their lives due to gun violence and to call for much-needed gun legislation.  LWVPBC Gun Safety and Voter Services partnered and tabled at the inspiring Concert at West Boca High School on September 8th.

Organizer Mimi Zelman of Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor planned this day of fine music, song, and remembrance with the hope that by working together – we can make a difference and save lives.  Our own Tom Gabor, criminologist/author, was a key speaker along with Mayor of Boynton Beach Steven Grant and Rabbi Barry Silver.  Latin Grammy-nominated duo Periko & Jessi León performed uplifting songs.  Leaguers – mark your calendars now for next year’s concert!

 

National Night Out

LWVPBC Gun Safety, Voter Services, and all Leaguers are invited by Sheriff Bradshaw to participate at the League tables and attend the PBSO annual National Night Out Against Crime 2019 on October 4th, 5 pm to 9 pm at the Target Superstore, 10155 Okeechobee Boulevard, Royal Palm Beach FL 33411 (SR441 intersection).  National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie, features complimentary children attractions, hot dogs, hamburgers, PBSO K-9 unit, specialty units, and the Animal Kindness Unit Greyhounds.  For more information including future LWVPBC Gun Safety meetings and events, contact Marsha Vinson mlvmmi@gmail.com or 516-655-1327.
