Ashley Cacicedo was raised in the state of New Jersey and has been living in Florida since 2011. She has a Master of Science degree in Communication and Media and a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies with a minor in Media and Politics from Lynn University.
Ashley is a believer in community service, education, and advocacy. She gets to put her enthusiasm into practice within her community organizations serving as the Chair of the Young Leaguers Committee of the League of Women Voters and as the Recruitment Chair of New Leaders Council Palm Beach.
Serena Cummins has been involved with her community for as long as she can remember. She used to say that she was a “professional volunteer” and that her paid job interfered with her other work. She was born and raised on Long Island to parents, especially my mother, who took her volunteer efforts seriously.
She has been a member of the League for more than eight years. Most of her efforts have been with the Voter Services Committee. She served as chair of Senior Check Out Day (S.C.O.D.), where l900 graduating high school seniors were registered. She has also worked on the Voters’ Guide Committee for the last three elections. She finds it very gratifying to provide information which helps educate the public so they can make informed choices!
Catherine Emihovich received her masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Buffalo in Educational Psychology. She served as Dean of the College of Education at the University of Florida for nine years, and two years at California State University. She has published three books, and numerous book chapters and articles on topics such as children’s language play, qualitative research methods, school/university/community partnerships, and teacher education issues.
Upon retirement from University of Florida in May 2017, Catherine and her husband moved to Delray Beach into a new community development in October 2018. Catherine joined the League of Women Voters in Alachua County in 2016, and joined the Palm Beach League in January, 2019. When she is not busy helping her son and daughter-in-law with her four grandsons, she is involved with League activities. She chairs the Candidate/Legislative Forums Committee and is active in the Education and Voter Services committees.
